Why is my award forfeited "due to inactivity"?

Our award inventory works under a system that reserves an award item for a specific time until an award is either claimed or forfeited due to inactivity. If we didn’t have this system, awards that never get claimed would sit in the inventory without a recipient. As our claim email states "Please note that this form must be completed within 7 days of award notification date or the award may be forfeited" . The award was forfeited due to inactivity and put back into the active inventory on the PlayZone.
